Draw A Sphere

Learn to draw a sphere by seeing the shapes that make it up.....everyone seems to start with the sphere. How do you 'see' the world? In other words, when you look at an object in front of you, do you see a person, a tree, or a collection of shapes, textures, tonal shades and shadows?

Learn How To Draw Step By StepTake this 'ball' for instance. Is it a ball or is it a circle? Well, if I take a simple 2 dimensional circle, add a few more circles of different sizes/colors, then blend those shapes in a certain way on my paper....I have a 'ball' on my paper now!

When we try to draw something from the three dimensional world around us, we are effectively trying to represent that object on a two dimensional piece of paper. The more we learn to see an object as nothing more than a collection of shapes in relationship to each other, the easier it becomes to learn how to draw it!

The goal of this web site is to explore a new way of 'seeing' shapes and how they relate to each other, the space around them and the distance they are from not only YOUR eye, but from all other objects in your immediate view. As you learn about these simple principles step by step, you will learn to see objects in a new way....you will effectively learn how to draw, step by step!

So, sit tight, buckle down, and get ready to explore many terms you may have heard but have never given any thought about as we discuss such basics in drawing as a line, a shape, drawing proportions, how to draw perspective, light, shadow and composition.
